Norilia develops protein ingredients from meaty chicken and turkey bones. At Bioco in Hærland, Østfold, enzymatic hydrolysis converts these raw materials into protein peptides, fat and a fraction containing proteins and minerals. This allows more of the raw material to be put to use.
Thousands of eggs are cracked every day at Nortura’s facility in Revetal to produce egg ingredients and products. This generates large quantities of eggshells, which previously incurred disposal costs. A collaboration between Norilia, Nortura Revetal and biotechnology company Biovotec led to the establishment of an industrial production line that separates the membrane from the shell. The technology uses air currents in a cyclone, allowing the two components to be recovered separately.
Norwegian cattle hides are world-class and are used in the luxury market for the production of handbags, belts, shoes, and upholstery. The cold Nordic climate and the farmers’ excellent animal care provide a great starting point for the refinement of hides at Norilia's hide and skin processing facility.
Scoured wool from Norilia is accredited the Nordic Swan Ecolabel. Transparancy throughout the value chain and low usage of chemicals are two important reasons making this possible. The Nordic Swan Ecolabel is yet another confirmation that Norwegian wool is a good choice for health and the environment.
